We will be lauded for the dreams we held securely in our hands and helped to pass down to our posterity and we will be held accountable for the nightmares we unleashed on the Earth.
What would you give to see the happiness of your children? To say that you would sacrifice your life that they may smile for the rest of theirs goes without saying. We work, we strive, we investigate the very best for our children so they may have it a little easier.
What of our politics and what of the direction that our world is taking? Is it too much to ask that the world would finally “get it together” for the sake of our children?
Today we have discussions about the end of the world or at the very least what we might do if “all goes to hell”.
When thinking of our posterity, do we take into account the growing power of Russia and the deteriorating rate of the relationship we so thoroughly enjoy? Do we think about how much land, the most valuable, that Chinese firms are buying and what it could mean in the near future? Do we think about the lack of common sense in our schools and that our children tend to be… less educated then our parents and even ourselves? Shouldn’t they know more than how to turn on a computer and look up the answers on wikipedia?
On terrorism: what should we think about domestic terrorism? Do we put in jail those that hoard food or other supplies simply because they fear the day when they won’t have a job to go to? Should we prosecute or jail a certain demographic simply because “they” don’t believe as “we” do?
At this moment, if you’ve read most or all of this, you may be thinking that it’s a certain political party or a certain mentality that is at fault. When do we stop looking at others to find fault and start looking at ourselves?
After all, it will be your children that remember what you did and said… It will be them that writes your epitaph; it will be them that thanks you for your sacrifice or it will be them that thanks the soil for hiding you forever.
